Slightly Off Topic but not...

I watched something in the area of five episodes of a show called Hoarders (on A&E). I watched it on OnDemand because, well, family knows that the big guy loves the remote. Since I've been staying in the sewing room at night (long story short), I usually find something to listen to since the lighting for reading is pretty absyml.

In short, it's about people who keep EVERYTHING they ever owned and cannot differentiate between legitimate stuff and crap. Now, those who have been to the homestead here in Bremerton can attest to the Big Guy's need to have stuff. Both Sue and I have talked about how if something were to happen, how we don't want to go through that house (the thoughts of a stick of dynamite have come forth many many times).

I remember how much stuff that Gale had in the two upstairs rooms and the garage. How long it took us to clean Grandma Yount's house (not that it was worthy of a shovel, but I remember "powder gate" in her bedroom. Throw in that my little Grandma in Kansas, when Papa passed away and mom had to go to Emporia for three months, that her and my uncle Jerry filled THREE of those large dumpsters before they had whittled down what Grandma could take.

(Another great example of this is you all know that dad is a big guy and at one time, grandma in Kansas could find his jeans. I am not kidding, she could fold and roll those huge jeans into a saltine box and it didn't bulge. She was a master packer.)

Getting back on topic, I could see how things can get out of hand. So I think that I am going to enlist my back-up (aka, Susie), and we're going to do what we can to make this a bit better. Slowly, with purpose. Like I said, i don't envision shovels, but I think its time to nip this in the bud.
